Website Launch Checklist: 12 Things to Check Before You Go Live

Launching a website is exciting, but small mistakes can cost you visitors on day one. Use this checklist before you go live.

Content and design

  • Every page has one clear heading and simple, correct text.
  • Spelling, phone number, email and address are checked.
  • The site looks good on a small phone, a tablet and a computer.
  • Images are clear, sized correctly and have short descriptions (alt text).

Technical checks

  • The site uses HTTPS and shows the padlock.
  • Every link and button works, and the contact form sends messages to the right email.
  • Pages load quickly on mobile.
  • A custom 404 page or helpful error message exists.

SEO basics

  • Each page has its own title and meta description.
  • A sitemap is created and submitted to Google Search Console.
  • Search engines are allowed to index the site. Many sites are launched by mistake with indexing switched off.
  • Google Analytics or another tracking tool is installed.

Trust pages

  • Privacy Policy, Terms and Disclaimer pages are published and linked in the footer.
  • Contact details and business name are clear.

After launch, request indexing for your main pages in Search Console and check again after a few days. A launch is the start of the work, not the end.

We follow a checklist like this for every project. See what we offer on the services page, or talk to us about your new website.
